GREAT HILLS PARK NOTES

REMEMBRANCE BRICKS:  We only order these bricks once per year.  This year’s order will go in soon.  If you would like to remember a special person or have your family represented in our brick plaza in front of the playscape kiosk, this is the time to order a brick.  Information about ordering can be found on the park website. www.GreatHillsPark.org.

VANDALISM OF THE NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT:  Recently, several pieces of our new equipment have been vandalized.  Several of the black discs which keep the ropes of the climbing tower in place have been removed.  Park equipment repairers say this is very difficult to do and takes a lot of strength. The drum covers were removed and the drums were filled with mulch. The covers were used as toys to toss about.  If these covers had been lost, each one would have cost two hundred dollars! The digger in the gravel pit has had the heavy duty screw mechanism which holds the arm mechanism together removed. These things were not done by young kids and I doubt they were done by adults.  It would seem  most likely that some of our older kids are doing these destructive  things.  For park volunteers who worked very hard to bring new play equipment to the park, this is very discouraging.  If anyone passes the playscape after 10PM and observes activity in the park, please call 911 and report this. It would seem this vandalism most likely happens late at night.

FRIDAY VOLUNTEERS: Please join the Friday Volunteers from 7:30 to 9 am at the playscape to do the things that keep that area looking beautiful. Occasionally, some volunteers will also do trail work. The air is still cool early in the morning.  New friends are waiting for you.  Volunteers work most but not all Fridays so best to get on the elist for this group.  Contact mlaing@wt.net .
