Great Hills Park

Exercise Equipment Installed October 2012

There’s an exciting new addition to Great Hills Park, thanks to the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department, The Austin Parks Foundation, and the many generous Great Hills Parks Donors. The equipment is installed on a concrete pad located behind the Chimney Swift Tower and native plant garden.

This equipment is designed to provide a tailored workout for teens and adults of all fitness levels. Balance Steps will enable a lower body workout to improve balance and coordination. A Pull-Up/Dip station will provide an opportunity to strengthen biceps, triceps, pectorals and other upper-body muscles. The Cardio Stepper will offer a heart-healthy workout with six resistance levels. Visitors to the park will be able to get an upper- and lower-abdominal workout with the Ab Crunch/Leg Lift. The Assisted Row/Push-Up station will enable exercises to work numerous upper-body muscle groups.

For years, many people have enjoyed running, walking and other outdoor fitness activities in Great Hills Park. The new fitness equipment will provide many new options for healthy workouts. Just imagine–instead of working out in a sweaty, crowded gym, you’ll be able to strengthen your muscles while also enjoying some fresh air and sunshine. The equipment is designed to complement the natural setting of our park, and is located so that people using it can have a view of the playscape area.
