In 1997, Marie Laing conducted and recorded an interview with Steve Pruett, who was 74 years of age at the time. He grew up in a house that his family built in 1926 at what is now the intersection of Jollyville Road and Floral Park Drive. At the time, the northern edge of Austin was at 45th Street, and the area that is now Great Hills Park was many miles out in the country. In the interview, Mr. Pruett recounts his memories of life in the area as it was in the early to mid twentieth century. The interview is divided into two 45-minute segments.
