Swift Night Out

Join us at the park pavilion for our Annual Swift Night Out Event. We will observe the aerial acrobatics and count the chimney swifts entering the swift towers as they migrate through Austin to South America for the winter. Though only home to a single nesting pair, hundreds of birds will roost in the tower overnight.  They generally arrive in March and leave by November.

Chimney swifts are protected by State Wildlife Codes and Federal Law under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1916. Each day, they eat more than a third of their weight in flying insect pests such as mosquitoes, biting flies and termites.

Date and Time TBD (generally early Sept) ~ check the News page for specific info when available.
