HAPPY 2020 TO EVERYONE IN OUR PARK COMMUNITY
SEWER NEWS: The new sewer line next to the park playscape is in place. The next phase will be restoration of the area which will be done in cooperation with watershed protection. However, this is not the end of sewer work in the park. The other lines in the park will be checked with a camera running through the lines looking for problems. If the present lines look good enough, they will be fitted with liners to make them stronger and extend their life. In order to do this work, sections of the trails may be closed at various times. Tail user are asked to respect these closures.
WINTER PARK MEETING: Our winter park meeting will take place on January 27 ( Monday) at 7pm at Triumphant Love Lutheran Church corner of Raincreek and Great Hills Trail. Plan to attend.
YAHOO GROUPS: Our Yahoo park group is not changing the way we use it or going away. We have never really used the features which are being eliminated . We have always been a private group. You can continue to send messages to the group and receive messages from others.
THE PLAYSCAPE PROJECT: Our playscape project is almost complete Our new, working telescope is in Austin and should be in installed this month. There is a new bench at the gravel pit. It has a separator in the middle which I am told is to prevent a person from sleeping on it! The musical instruments are suppose to be getting large stone blocks for children to stand on to better reach the instruments.
IBM GRANT:If you volunteer at the park and work for or have retired from IBM you can turn your volunteer hours into a grant from IBM. Tom Meserole did just that and can tell you how to do this. Thanks IBM and Tom for the generous grant to our park.
FRIDAY VOLUNTEERING: Mostly during the summer, but sporadically all year, volunteers come to the park early on Friday mornings to work on the playscape and trails. They usually work from 7:30 to 9am but times can vary. If you are interested in joining this group, send an email to mlaing@wt.net.
