The wildfire mitigation workday was a big success. A large amount of brush was collected and consolidated in the area around the playscape and the trails near the Sierra Nevada trailhead, down as far as the first water crossing. A contractor hauled away the collected brush the following week.
We had 64 volunteers who signed in.
Of the 64, 50 registered on the GivePulse page, 14 registered on site.
Of the 64, 36 were from the 78759 zip code that contains the park, and 28 came from 12 different zip codes all over the greater Austin area. The 28 included a number of high school students looking for volunteer service hours.
